Angeles City Sports Complex Soon to Rise
April 7, 2009A P681 Million fully equipped modern sports complex will soon rise in Angeles City, this was said by Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno after the launching of Peace and Order campaign at his office on March 23, 2009.
This was also the vision of the Honorable Robin L. Nepomuceneo, LIga ng mga Barangay President - Angeles City Chapter.
Considered to be the most ambitious projects of the city government under Mayor Blueboy, the sports complex will be built on a six hectare lot which was donated by the Jao Ville Realty Corporation in Barangay Pandan, Angeles City.
The sports complex will feature a 3,000 sitting capacity convention center, a 2,000 sitting capacity grandstand and oval and an Olympic size swimming pool. The project will commence during the second half of the year.
According to City Administrator Mark Allen C. Sison, the sports facilities will cater to train local athletes to be more competitive to national and international competitions. It is also beneficial for it will serve as future site of major sports events like the Palarong Pambansa, thus contribute to the local economy”.

About Angeles City
Angeles City - In 1796, the gobernadorcillo or town head of San Fernando, Don Ángel Pantaleón de Miranda, and his wife, Doña Rosalia de Jesus, along with some followers, staked out a new settlement, which they named Culiat because of the abundance of vines of that name in the area. The new settlers cleared the woodland and cultivated the area for rice and sugar farming. Don Ángel built his first house with light materials at the northwest corner of the intersection of Sapang Balen and the road going towards the town of Porac. It was later donated to the Roman Catholic Church and became a cemetery known as the "Campo Santong Matua," the site where the Nepomuceno Coliseum is situated.
